Reconditioning

Before any of our pianos are offered for sale, they undergo a rigorous inspection and are serviced where necessary by qualified piano technicians approved by Allegro Music.

• The action mechanism is adjusted and serviced to provide an even and properly weighted touch for the player. Uneven or sluggish actions make pressing the piano keys more difficult and can result in the player becoming discouraged.
• The pinblock, cast-iron plate, keybed and back supports are all inspected and tested for structural weaknesses and defects. This step is essential in guaranteeing that the piano will hold its tune.
• The sound board is thoroughly checked for proper tonal response. All felt in the hammers, dampers and action mechanism is inspected for strength and tonal characteristics.

This attention to detail ensures that the piano has rich bass tones, a warm middle register and clear treble tones.

It should be noted that most tall, pre-1940s upright pianos cannot be restored to a playable condition at any cost. Also pianos of this vintage were not designed to be tuned to the modern day concert pitch (A=440), which means tuning can be problematic.
